Hello, and thank you for visiting my website. Please look around to see what I offer and do not hesitate to contact me for further information - either by telephone: 01484 640374 or email: Shieldsshaw@phonecoop.coop.
My main area of work nowadays is in the quiet, nurturing and supportive realm, helping you to explore and connect with your emotional and physical self. I hope you may gain some insights into yourself and way of being. Since mid 2016 I have been training in Hakomi, a wonderful, gentle method of body psychotherapy, which can also be described as 'assisted self discovery'. My previous experience over the years has included, both paid and voluntarily, with people living with AIDS/HIV, at a drug and alcohol support clinic, at Kirkwood Hospice and for Huddersfield Samaritans. In 2005 I graduated as a teacher of the Alexander Technique, following a three year training process studying the functioning, use and connectedness of the human body and mind; and I am a qualified somatic movement coach, in the tradition of Thomas Hanna. The Alexander Technique and somatic approaches hugely influence my life and work, however I no longer offer sessions purely in either of these methods.
I am a member of, and bound by the Code of Ethics of the Northern Massage Association and Massage Training Institute (www.massagetraining.co.uk). For many years I have had my own regular meditation and movement practice.
Please get in touch if you are interested in coming to see me. I offer you a professional, friendly service in a safe, quiet and calm space. I always try to explain things as they are and listen to what you need, and if I thought someone else could help you more than I could I would not hesitate to give you that option.
